probe measurement - urgent

I am stuck with my simulation in usage of probes. Can anyone help me to understand the difference between point probe, and edge probe? How are the measurements performed in both these cases? Is there any reference material regarding these? I need to know in particular if I place a point source inside a cube and measure the potential using doamin point probe and domain edge probe, how are the readings recorded in both these case? How the the probes estimates these values.
