simulating a moving body in a flowing field

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

hello,
I need to simulate flowing compressible or incompressible fluid in a circular pipe, containing solid bodies moving by the drag force deduced by the fluid. The diameter of the bodies is the same magnitude of the pipe diameter and of course something like particles simulation won't fit. In addition the bodys are aplying force against the flow field.
Any suggestions? please

thanks
roi

Hi,

The task is extremely complicated and would require fluid dynamics, moving mesh and PDE interface. I would say it is possible with a lot of patience and accurate thinking.

First of all, you may want to check what is the value of your Reynolds number because I am not sure comsol may be able to handle this problem with turbulent flow.

Cheers
