Problem in Li electrodeposition dendrite simulation by phase field

I'v try to reproduce the case proposed by Chen in the paper "Modulation of dendritic patterns during electrodeposition: A nonlinear phase-field model". Something wrong happened. While I set the potential as a constant the program run normally and the solid phase evoluate like a small mountain. Nvertheless while I introduce the potential governing equation,completely identical to the one in the paper, nothing it's able to calculate. The rate of prograss stop at 4% and never go ahead. Does anyone facing the same problem or have a solution? Best appreciation for any advice.
