What are the differences between COMSOL 4.0 e COMSOL 4.0A? Are there important differences in Electromagnetic modeling?

yes and you should also patch v4.0a to the version v4.0.0.993 see the main web site of COMSOL:

www.comsol.eu/support/updates/

the V4 was a major change in the way the COMSOL GUI interface is designed, and this is a very heavy job, probably only finished for all subtilities around V4.2, V4.1 is expected for next month and the conferences
