Circulator S-parameter Analysis A microwave circulator is a multiport device that has the property that a wave incident in Port 1 is coupled only into Port 2; a wave incident in Port 2 is coupled only into Port 3; and so on. Circulators are used to isolate microwave components, for example, to couple a transmitter and a receiver to a common antenna. They typically rely on the use of anisotropic materials, most commonly ferrites. This model simulates the transmission of a 10-GHz TE10 wave through a lossless 3-port ferrite circulator. Shown in the collage is a figure of an S-parameter analysis with its relevant postprocessing dialog box, easily achieved in the Electromagnetics Module.
