Open Models and Applications Without a License for Add-On Products

When opening any arbitrary model or application in the COMSOL Multiphysics user interface, you can now browse its contents without having the required add-on licenses, unless the model originally used one of the CAD-based products such that you will have to have licensed this respective product. If you want to work with the model, you can remove model features that you don't have a license for and work with features pertaining to products that you do have. You can also inspect the application or model and perform postprocessing that is available in the products that you license. However, you cannot solve the model without the licenses that originally built the model. The new License Error feature helps you identify the licensed product(s) required in order to solve the model in its original state.

A tutorial model from the Application Libraries requires one of several add-on products to run the model with the specified boundary condition, as identified by the License Error feature. Searching Models and Applications

Search the application for occurrences of a given string, or use a regular expression. This can be used to locate where a given variable or parameter is used, for example, or to replace such occurrences when renaming variables.

Tables: Sort by Clicking Column Header, Create Custom Toolbars

Tables can now be sorted by clicking a column header. This includes tables for parameters and variables as well as user-defined tables in applications. Furthermore, you can also create customized toolbar buttons.

Eclipse® target platform upgrade

The new version has upgraded its Eclipse® target platform to version 4.4.1. This will provide a much more stable COMSOL Desktop® User Interface for the latest versions of Linux® and Mac OS X.
