Learn about the new features and functionality for modeling acoustics in COMSOL Multiphysics® version 5.5.

In this webinar, we will discuss the latest acoustics modeling capabilities in the Acoustics Module, such as:

  • The new Elastic Waves, Time Explicit interface used to model elastic waves in acoustically large problems such as NDT ultrasound applications or seismic wave propagation. The interface is multiphysics enabled to model acoustic-structure interaction (ASI) problems.
  • The new Port condition available in Thermoviscous Acoustics allows simplified modeling and analysis of microacoustic subsystems to extract both scattering and transfer matrices, for example.
  • New multiphysics couplings such as the Background Fluid Flow coupling, the Lorentz coupling, the Acoustic-Pipe Acoustics Connection, and ASI with the Layered Shell interface.
  • General improvements to solvers for modeling large problems in the frequency domain as well as improvements to postprocessing.

The webinar will show several examples, including tutorials and industry-scale models. The live demonstrations of the acoustics tools introduced with version 5.5 are intended for both new and existing users of COMSOL Multiphysics®. The webinar concludes with a Q&A session.

Mads Herring Jensen joined COMSOL in 2011 and is the technical product manager for the Acoustics Module. Before starting at COMSOL, he worked in the hearing aid industry for five years as an acoustic finite element expert. Mads has a PhD in computational fluid dynamics from the Technical University of Denmark.
