LiveLink™ for SOLIDWORKS®

Support for Running Apps Using LiveLink for SOLIDWORKS

Apps can now be built with the Application Builder and utilize features from LiveLink™ for SOLIDWORKS®. This will allow engineers that have created models using SOLIDWORKS® to import and manipulate their CAD geometries, within the app, and then synchronize their app with the SOLIDWORKS® modeling environment. In order to run these apps on COMSOL Server™, you or the user of your app will need to download the COMSOL® Client for Windows®.

Exclude Selected Object Types from Synchronization

Object types – such as solids, surfaces, curves, or points – can now be excluded from the synchronization when working with the bidirectional interface that is included with LiveLink™ for SOLIDWORKS®. While it is always possible to prevent objects from being synchronized by hiding them in the CAD design, this new functionality provides a faster way to exclude selected object types with just one click. Excluding objects can result in faster synchronization for large CAD files that contain many geometric objects that do not need to take part in the simulation, such as construction surfaces, for example.

Performance Improvements for Add-In Loading

LiveLink™ for SOLIDWORKS® registers add-ins that are loaded at start-up of the CAD program. These add-ins provide the functionality of the bidirectional and embedded One Window interface COMSOL® modeling environment. In COMSOL Multiphysics® 5.1, we have optimized the loading time of these add-ins, minimizing their contribution to the start-up time of the CAD program.
