Using COMSOL® Software with LiveLink™ for SOLIDWORKS®

Duration: 10:56

With the LiveLink™ for SOLIDWORKS® add-on tool, users can link SOLIDWORKS® geometries with COMSOL Multiphysics® simulations, gaining multiple benefits. This video gives you an introduction to LiveLink™ for SOLIDWORKS®, shows you how to synchronize both a part and an assembly file, and explains associativity and the various import options.

After synching a wrench and bolt assembly file, we explain associativity. The LiveLink™ interface connects the geometrical entities (faces, edges, and vertices) in the COMSOL Multiphysics® Graphics window to their corresponding entities in SOLIDWORKS®. When using this functionality, only available with the LiveLink™ interface, all materials, physics, and mesh boundary conditions are maintained when small changes are made to the geometry in SOLIDWORKS®.

Next, we focus on a steering wheel part file with added composite curves. We show how to prevent unwanted objects from being transferred, as well as how to add COMSOL Multiphysics® geometry to the synchronized SOLIDWORKS® geometry.

Applications used in this demo:

  1. Stresses and Strains in a Wrench
  2. Cooling of an Injection Mold
