Online event - Teaching Physics with Simulation Apps
Teaching physics to undergraduates comes with many challenges. One of them is to keep the interest level of the students up by covering the required fundamental material in the relatively short given time. To address this issue, The University of Helsinki in their Solid State Continuum Mechanics course integrated multiphysics modeling into their curricula. Using the Application Builder in the COMSOL Multiphysics® software, Joni Mäkinen, Doctoral Researcher, has created simulation-based teaching apps, which enhance students’ physical intuition and their ability to visualize physical concepts.
These apps let students view and control designated inputs, settings, and outputs with a simplified interface without requiring them to be numerical simulation experts. As a result, students can learn and conduct virtual experiments easily.
After the presentation, Joni Mäkinen and COMSOL representatives will be available to answer questions.
