Intensive Introduction to COMSOL Multiphysics® (In Person)

March 4–5, 2026 Kgs. Lyngby 8:30

Back to Events Calendar

Get started with using COMSOL Multiphysics®

This course will begin at an introductory level, leading attendees through the essential steps needed in all analyses (geometry creation, meshing, model setup, results evaluation, etc.). Then, we will move into more advanced topics, such as solution techniques and multiphysics modeling.

Training Course Objective

We will use a combination of lectures and hands-on exercises to teach this course. The goal is to immerse you in the modeling workflow of COMSOL Multiphysics®, help you develop a strong foundation for your future multiphysics work, and teach you how to set up and solve models as well as evaluate your model results.

Schedule

Day 1

8:30–16:00
Please check in 8:00–8:30, and you are welcome to join us for breakfast during this time!

We will begin with a guided introduction to the software's user interface (UI) so that you learn the key steps in the modeling workflow. In particular, we will walk you through the following:

  • How to navigate the Graphics window
  • Parameters
  • Selections
  • Basic drawing
  • Adding extra physics phenomena, i.e., multiphysics
  • Materials
  • Parameter sweeps
  • Operators and variables
  • Functions
  • Time-dependent solutions
  • Results evaluation
  • Solvers and configuration of solver sequences

Day 2

8:30–16:00
Please check in 8:00–8:30, and you are welcome to join us for breakfast during this time!

The second day will build upon the training from the previous day with more examples and discussion addressing:

  • Geometry
  • CAD import and defeaturing
  • Meshing — automatic and user defined
  • Virtual geometry operations
  • Adaptive meshing
  • Using model methods
  • Building simulation applications

Depending on time and the interests of participants, other course topics could be considered.

Refreshments

Breakfast, lunch, afternoon cake, and tea and coffee will be provided both days of the course.
