livelink and matlab

Hi,
Please let me know whether it is compulsory to install livelink to make a connection between comsol 4.2a and the matlab.How to install livelink for matlab connection.......

Version 4.2a does not exist (yet?), but in v4.0-4.2 LiveLink for MATLAB is indeed required to connect the two software programs.

Thanks a lot for your reply.Could you plz tell me how to install the livelink for making an interface between matlab and comsol...Do u have some pdf file to guide how to install/

If you have the livelink part to your licence, then when you are installing the comsol 4.2 software it will ask you to specify the matlab root, ie where it is situated on your computer.

Do this and once installation is complete a shortcut for comsol with matlab will appear on your desktop, as well as a comsol one.
