Unstable equilibrium for eigenfrequency study

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello, I have tried to model an inverted pendulum with a sharp tip ( Image has been attached below) The important parameters of the model are : 1) The only fixed constraint is at the tip of the model 2) The mass on top is of stainless steel 3) the other two long cylinder (inverted pendulum) is Aluminum 4) I have applied Gravity as a volume force to all domains According to my expectation the model should be unstable and the simulation should display that it has fallen over/toppled but the study results just show the eigenmodes as if the model is stable. Please guide me where I might be going wrong? My aim is to see how comsol handles unstable equilibrium especially for finding the eigenfrequencies of an object.
