How to Navigate the COMSOL Multiphysics® User Interface

Accessing Help Resources Within COMSOL Multiphysics®

As you are working in COMSOL Multiphysics®, you may have questions or want to clarify something while creating your model. There is a lot of helpful information, guidance, examples, and functionality available right within the software that you can use to help clarify any questions you may have.

Help and Resources Within COMSOL Multiphysics®

Some of the tools available within the software include the following:

  • Help window
  • Documentation window
  • Application Libraries window

These resources provide you with quick access to topic-based, context-sensitive help right within the COMSOL Desktop®; the full COMSOL® documentation including introduction, user guide, and reference manual documentation; and a substantial library of model examples for different application areas. Collectively, these resources provide you with the in-depth background information, explanations, and examples that you need to help guide you as you create your own models.

Watch the video below and follow along with your own model, or the Electrical Heating in a Busbar model in the Application Libraries. To learn how to find other helpful models, which can help you learn how to model certain types of problems, use certain features, and use specific modeling techniques, feel free to see our blog post on How to Search for a Specific COMSOL Multiphysics® Application.

As demonstrated in the above video, the Help window will show information based on what is selected. In some cases you may want to lock what is in the Help window to use as an ongoing reference while modeling.
