Keynote: IAV’s Coupling Solution for Battery Models

Durée: 18:37

n this keynote talk from COMSOL Day: Vehicle Electrification, Dr. Reik Laubenstein of IAV discusses the coupling of pseudo-2D cell models created in the COMSOL Multiphysics® software with modeling in other simulation environments.

Laubenstein opens the talk with an introduction to IAV and its approach to battery development. This transitions into a discussion on the coupling the company uses to promote battery optimization and a broader acceptance of model-based development. Laubenstein also offers two examples where coupling was used: in early cell anomaly detection and a novel battery concept with an innovative approach to thermal management. For both of these examples, Laubenstein provides an overview of the models, their setup, and their results.

Dr. Reik Laubenstein is a senior engineer at IAV’s battery group in North America. He graduated from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in 2018 with a PhD thesis in inorganic chemistry.
