Multiphysics Simulation for Automotive Power Electronics — On Demand

In the race to develop the next generation of electric vehicles, engineers face the challenge of designing efficient and reliable power conversion systems for traction inverters, onboard chargers and DC-to-DC converters. These systems rely on a combination of power electronics, cables and busbars, and magnetic components, where effective design through multiphysics modelling and simulation are key to power density and efficiency of these systems.
In this archived webinar, learn how the COMSOL Multiphysics® software can be used to model and optimise the thermal and electromagnetic aspects of automotive power systems. We will demonstrate how to perform 3D simulations of devices such as inductors, transformers, and insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) modules, including functionality for extracting lumped parameters for circuit-level simulation. We cover how the software's multiphysics capabilities enable users to couple electromagnetics with thermal and fluid flow analysis in order to design efficient thermal management systems.
