What is "Layer" in V4.1 and V4.2

Hi,

I could not find what the definition and function of Layers option are in V4.1 and V4.2.
Can whoever knows about it drop a line please?

The only thing that I found in the user guide and was not useful for me is:

Layers
Layers can be used to create sandwich primitives. Specify the thicknesses of layers in the Layers table, and optionally a name for each layer. The outermost layer comes first. Select the check boxes to specify where to apply the layers.

Thanks,
JW

Basically layers allow you to create several concentric spheres, cubes, etc in a single step. Try it out, you'll see what I mean.
