Introduction to Modeling Resistive and Capacitive Devices

Fundamentals of Modeling Resistive and Capacitive Devices

In Part 1 of a 10-part course providing an introduction to modeling resistive and capacitive devices, we work through and discuss in great detail all of the fundamental concepts for modeling these types of devices. Our course begins with conducting a stationary analysis of a simple resistor, where we impose a current and compute the electric potential, current, and device resistance. We compute these quantities using a combination of nonlocal coupling operators, derived values, and variables. We then demonstrate some of the different strategies you can use to simplify the model, all while verifying the accuracy of our simulation results.
