Earth Science module needed?

I am investigating the role of fault zones through porous media and the enhancement for geothermal potential.
I only have the chemical engineering module available, my question is, do I need the Earth Science module if:
-fully saturated darcy flow in porous medium
-thermal conductive and convective heat flow
I was told dat buoyance change driven flow as a result of thermal expansion (thermal convection) was the problem.
'Similar' to my research is the example model 'Porous media flow: discrete fracture', model ID: 691. Where the earth science module IS used

Is thermal convection the only issue here, and is there a way around?
